Evening thoughts

Wow, who would have thought I would enter two, humm, what do you call these, maybe posts, in one day. I'm sitting at home with Snuffy, my white cat, purring on my lap. Glad she doesn't like to walk on the key board. I'm looking forward to my Exploring Web 2.0 class on blogs tomorrow. I would like to monitor some other blogs, especially on RDA and FRBR and the future of cataloging. Though when I would read them is another question all together. I have way too many messages waiting to be read from Autocat and OCLC.

I wonder if my daughter, Melissa, age 12, knows what a blog is? She got me to sign up for a MySpace account although I don't look at it very much. In return for her getting to have a MySpace account she had to show me how to get one and add me as one of her friends. She likes to check her MySpace and be on when her friends are on. It is hard to keep up and be protective of her but encouraging of embracing new technology. Certainly things my parents didn't have to worry about. But how much do you keep up with the Jones on technology. How much is need and how much is want. She wants a cell phone but of course not just any cell phone, it has to have a camera with it. She'd prefer to have a name brand but she'll have to settle for what I get with my low cost cell phone plan. I always told her that I would get her a cell phone when it became a necessity for me to call her. With her in middle school, the need has grown. I would have gotten her a basic cell phone before Christmas but she was willing to wait until her birthday so she could get a camera phone. Now the question is how much texting is she going to do.

The evening is rushing by so I'll stop here. Still not sure why anyone would want to read this but it is kind of fun to put one's thoughts down.
